18064 US MODEL 1816 POMEROY MUSKET $1,995.00

Converted from the original flintlock to percussion with a nipple inserted on the upper right side of the barrel and a large off-set percussion hammer. The lockplate is well marked with an American eagle over "L POMEROY" ahead of the hammer and with date of 1832 over "US" on the tail. Lockplate and hammer are gray with some brown staining but are smooth with no pitting and have excellent markings and sharp edges and corners. The lock works perfectly. The walnut stock extends to within 3" of the muzzle and is sound and unbroken with no missing wood. There is more than average handling and use marks on the stock comprising moderate dents, scratches. The oval cartouche on the left side of the stock is very good. The stock is dark brown in color and has no missing wood. Stock is mounted with steel furniture comprising the military buttplate, two piece triggerguard with sling swivel, three barrel bands with sling swivel on the middle band and front sight on the lower loop of the upper band. The barrel is 42" long. It is excellently marked with "US/JM" over a "P" in an oval and with date of 1832 well marked on the breechplug tang. The barrel is medium gray in color and fairly bright and smooth with no pitting. A stud for a socket bayonet is mounted just behind the muzzle on top of the barrel. The ramrod appears to be original. Overall condition of the gun is very good plus.
