The drum, introduced to Europe by returning Crusaders, soon became a major musical instrument of military of several countries. While the drum can give the exhausted soldier added vigor, it’s main use was to beat the time of march and send signals on a noisy battlefield. Drum is made to exact specifications set forth in U.S. Regulations: head 15” across, shell 12” high. Shell of drum is made of birch, and the heads are covered with an extremely durable man made material. There are 10 holes in each hoop with hemp cord and leather tighteners on the sides of the shell adjust the snares. Made in the USA.
