A favorite among Confederates, especially the cavalry of John Hunt Morgan, this well-balanced version of the British Enfield is an exact copy of the .577 guns that saw extensive service during the Civil War. This reproduction features a 43 1/2" one-piece European walnut fullstock with satin finish, 1 3/4" drop and 14" trigger pull. Blued barrel is 58 caliber, 33" long, tapered round 1 1/16" at breech to 13/16" at muzzle. Button rifled .006" deep, 1-66" twist, 3 lands measure .577" and 3 grooves measure .589". Front sight is blued steel base & blade, rear sight is blued steel flip-up style with elevator marked to 800 yards. Brass furniture except for dark blue-black steel barrel bands. Color casehardened lock marked "London Armory Co" just forward and below hammer with crown at tail. Single trigger, sling swivels. Steel ramrod 10x32 male thread. Percussion with 5/16x20 nipple using musket caps. Load with 60 grains of FFg black powder and .570 patched round ball or .577 minie ball. Overall length is 49 1/4" and total weight is 9 1/2 lbs.
