Christian Sharps was the originator of a line of extremely practical, sturdy, long-lived and often quite handsome military and sporting rifles that are associated with several of the major historical events which shaped American history in the 19th century. A very practical and sturdy firearm, this reproduction features European walnut buttstock and forearm(checkered) with satin finish, 3" drop and 14" trigger pull. The blued 54 caliber barrel is 29" long tapered round 1.225" at breech to .812" at muzzle, button rifled .005" deep, 1-60" twist, 7 lands measure .540" and 7 grooves measure .550". Front sight is steel base and blade, rear sight is steel with flip-up elevator marked to 800 yards. Steel furniture blued, color casehardened lock, receiver and buttplate. Single trigger. Percussion with 5/16x20 nipple uses musket caps. Load with 60 grains FFFg black powder and .544 conical bullet. Overall length is 46 1/4" and total weight is 8 lbs.
