I have never been much of a black powder pistol shooter, but have been shooting my hand made long arms for many yrs.
Considering my eyes I consider the Uberti Remington new army SUBURB!! To say the least. the fit, the finish, rivals a hand made rifle done by me that would have taken 100 hrs labor. I do not suppose the beautiful grips would have been stock on an original, Oh Well CUSTOM!!
And for my old eyes I was absolutely amazed at how well it shot right out of the box. 25 grs of goex 3f dixies cast lead 454's ( I think I will shoot swagged honadies )with a 44 cal wonder wad and a little crisco to keep the fouling soft, it shot at 45 ft. consistant 1.50" groups. Of course Rem. came up with the front sight that is driftable and I had to take about an 1/8" off the top, but every rifle I have made I have had to make those adjustments.
I have to admit I like looks of the Colts better, but I really doubt I would be able to get one of those to shoot as good as the Remington. (Through indian wars and buffalo hunting it never failed me!) Now I see. Thanks
