Reseved my 1863 remington contract rifle(zouave) and on first glance I not eat that the box it was in had molds patch is. Then alone opening to examin the rifle I steped out side for better light ! There I found the stock and barrel also to be inundated with mild ! First glace at the berral at the muzzle was rust ! Then a flashlight I use in inspecting welds was dropped down the boure to iluminat a lovly pumpkin Orange of rust ! Let's check the lock ! Apon pulling the hamer back the half cock was nonexistant ! And the seat would Bailey ingage ! Now if I was new to black powder iI would have been Very Very Pist ! But I'm not and have been using no for 40 of my 53 years ! Tacking the gun apart to reveal the lock had been exposed to moister and began to rust ! I treated it like a surplus rifle from a gov. Wherehouse ! The stock looks like it now has bean around a bit and the rifle it self isn't a new right off the line rifle and for my aplication ties a good thing ! At $700+raing instead of 995 there's Go a be somthing off ! Now she is clean and scrubed and looking good the lock is as well and this will be the new meat maker ! Just not thrilled with the what she came !
