As with the Dance Brothers revolver that I bought from Dixie last year at this time, I bought this Spiller and Burr as an addition to my Confederate revolvers collection. I am as well pleased with Pietta’s attention to detail in this revolver as I am with the Dance Brothers. While there is a goof or two, they are not enough of a distraction to get upset about for only $245.00. Overall workmanship is very good and while I might expect a little better finishing on a gun that cost twice as much, for a Confederate arm it must be remembered that as skilled as the Confederate gun makers might have been they just didn’t have the facilities or manufacturing capabilities that Sam Colt had in Hartford. Either as a reminder on a shelf of days gone by, or as a regular shooting arm, I would recommend this gun be added to any collectors or shooters stock of arms. If you buy this gun with intentions of shooting it, remember…black powder only, use anything else and you may as well stay home.
