MP0308 Backstrap for Reproduction Colt 1851 Navy, 1861 Navy and original Colt Navy 51,60,61 & Conversion Revolver

I bought this to use as a connection for a home made shoulder stock. So not the usual use for this backstrap. And if I mess it up I won't lose the ability to shoot my 1851 repro. Also this came so fast I was'nt able to hide it from the wife....Ha ah ha To sum up another fine product from DGW. And lightning fast shipping.

It's a quality-enough part. However a note to potential buyers: This is the Pietta-made backstrap and as such doesn't have the same contours of an original Colt or even Uberti backstrap. What does this mean? If you're trying to use your existing Colt or Uberti-made grips they wont fit. Pietta makes a good 1851 clone; with the exception that their grips simply aren't shaped correctly. If you DO have a Pietta then this fits just fine.

Bought a set of these straps to downsize the grip frame on my 1860 Army; I rounded out the rear spur on the butt as much as I could and it worked out really well!

A well finished part which lined up perfectly with the screw holes in my battered (original) frame. However there was about a quarter inch gap between the bottom leg and the Dixie triggerguard bought at the same time. I've heard that there are differences in grip size between some of the weapons this is supposed to fit - maybe a little too procrustean? I bent it here and there till I got it to fit and it looks OK but I was probably lucky I made my own grip - I doubt the standard one would have fitted. Dave
