I was really not sure what to expect from this rifle but after receiving it I must say I am quite pleased. Overall it is very well made and has a nice high-quality lock and parts. It really looks the part of an American made Jaeger rifle. I haven't fired it yet but I don't anticipate any trouble there. It is a little on the hefty side but that is standard for a Jaeger. If you are looking for a little bit different kind of rifle for a F&I or Revolutionary War impression give this one some thought. Highly recommended!

I've had my Jaeger flintlock for several months now and feel as if I know it well enough to write a review. I am tremendously pleased with this rifle. She sparks and ignites positively ever time when I do my part accuracy at 100 yard steel targets is excellent (although I am still working out a personal load) and the fit and finish out of the box was perfect. There are other factors to me that makes this rifle very enjoyable. First is the wide time range that this type of rifle covers allowing me to reenact from the French and Indian War to the 1840's. Since the rifle is not an exact copy of any specific type of jaeger rather an example of the type and style-- it appears as if it will be tremendously flexible in reenacting. Second is the size. This is a very very handy sized rifle made for traveling distance with either slung or in hand and the sling swivels on the rifle work very well with the jaeger sling. I am hoping to try historic trekking possibly in the future with it. I think it was a wonderful concept of Dixie's to sell this type of rifle and appreciate it---thanks

First impression - Sweet! (Christmas sale price also sweetened it too) Next impression will come after I have shot it. This will take a while as I bought this gun as a weight loss incentive. However I will be back (unless I die trying to loose weight)

I have had this rifle for three years now so I have some updated impressions. Firstly I am still very impressed with this gun. I used it at Guilford Courthouse at the reenactment this past weekend and she shot beautifully. We did an early morning tactical where I fired about 15 times. I did not clean it afterward only changing the flint. That afternoon we had the main battle where I put another 25-30 shots through the gun. It continued to shoot reliably without any noticeable hanging and was just a joy to use. One quick note; the ramrod is pretty weak and broke while trying to extract a stuck ball a couple of years ago; I would recommend replacing it. This is my favorite gun that I reenact with and it always draws comments on the field. Highly recommended.

I had the same problem as Gregory but it is operator error. Flintlocks I have now learned are a tamable beast but you have to know how to tame them. There is a way to put the flint in the cock. There is a way to prime the pan. There is even a way you have to load the flintlock to get it to fire. Properly done the gun fires before the hammer stops moving. Check muzzleloading forums. I have this gun great reviews and was thinking that I spoke too soon. WRONG. Today the gun gave me 50 yard hole-touching groups with .530 ball patched .010 lubed patch with 80 gr. 2F and priming of 4F. I asked for advice and it was freely given and now I know I did not make a mistake. This is one very fine shooting fine handling fine made gun! I am one very happy camper!
