Outstanding
Wonderful surprise on how well this factory rifle shoots. The example I received has a very fast and well sparking lock, shoots slightly low out of the box, which is to be expected...a file taken to the front sight blade will rectify that. Fit and finish is excellent. I have wanted a small bore rifle for some time, and should have done this years ago. Great range gun, and with some work on my part, I have no doubt it could perform very well on small game as well. With the supply chain crunch, this was a timely purchase to keep me at the range. My load is 20-25 grains of FFFg real black powder (I still have Goex), .310 ball, .010 lubed patch. Bore is lubed and seasoned with bore butter ( I still have a few tubes of that too). I can't recommend this rifle highly enough.

The wood to metal is great! The sights are alittle hard to work withtoo wide in the rear. The frizzen is far too short for my tastesgetting a small enough flint is to work here is a pain. The accuracy of this rifle is great!I've grouped shots off-hand a 20-25yrds you could cover with a quarter. I use a 20gr. charge of 3f.Brian Farrer.

Asthetically this rifle is beautiful. The barrel is browned nicely and the finish on the stock is very clean. After about a 100 shots my groups at 25 yards started to tighten up to about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. After trying different bullet diameters and patching material I have found that 20 grains of 3f powder with .315 ball patched with pillow titken is the most accurate load for this rifle. The one thing that disturbs me however is after examining my cleaning patches as well as patches after being shot I have noticed a tear which indicates a bur inside the barrel. As far as sighting in I had to drift the front sight post considerably but once that was done my rounds hit where I aimed. Overall great rifle it's a pleasure to shoot and when given a choice I always take this one to the range or squirrel hunting.
