This was my first muzzle-loading rifle. I just recieved it a few days ago and I was very impressed when I opened the box. It has a very nice balance and the stock curve fits the shoulder nicely. I brought it out to the range today and was very impressed. I found that a .430\" round ball with a .018\"" lubed patch works much better than the recomended .440\"" with lubed patch. I wasn't sure how shooting a right handed flintlock left handed was going to work. But since I shoot left handed and there aren't that many left handed guns out there I decided that i would try it. To my surprise it worked out very well. This is a very good beginners rifle waiting for the ingition take a little getting used to but other than that it's just like shooting a normal rifle."

Bought this Kentuckian about two years ago and it do shine! This is the first time a rifle's sights were right on the money out of the box! Going to get me another in caplock. Wish Dixie would bring back the old .32 Squirrel rifle. Mines getting old just like me.

Note: This is the UPDATED rating/Review... I Forgot to \"add\"" the Star Rating on/in the 1st one!! Well Even 'tho We have not fired this Beauty as of yet (My wife took a Shine to it about 2 years ago in Our Local Gun Shop) we admire It in it's Place of Honor over the Fireplace! I have Always wanted to have a Kentuck' over the Fireplace Mantle for as long as I can remember and This Work of Art fills that Place so very Perfectly. (Even 'tho I was raised and consider myself a Yankee Out West- Spent much of My Childhood In WA. and OR.) All it took was My Lady simply hearing me mention that Childhood \""Remembrance\"" and She brought The Pedersoli Kentucky Rifle .45 Caliber Flintlock Home and here It rests! The Workmanship and Fit and Finish are Flawless (I Really appreciate the One Piece Full Length Stock) and if and when We choose to shoot this Rifle I have no doubts that it will function as well as Pedersoli Products are want to do!! Just got this gun from Dixie. It is a real beauty. Very well made an has a great balance. The Jaws on the lock are a little smaller than my other guns so the 3/4 flints are to big. I will try a smaller flint 5/8 or 1/2 inch. I reccomend this rifle to anyone wishing to add to thier collection.

I was reading the reviews and just wanted to comment on \"...waiting on the ignition.\"" Pedersolis have a reputation for good ignition. It sounds as if the shooter is using too much priming powder. Too much powder in the pan will elevate the powder above the touch hole and delay ignition. I once bought one of these as a gift for my son and it was one beautifully made rifle."
