MP1813 Hand and Spring for Reproduction Colt 1851 Navy, 1860 Army, and 1861 Navy Revolver

Quality part. I had ordered the hand assembly for an ASM 1851 Navy. The length was a bit too long and a simple file to the end allowed for the hammer to release the cylinder stop allowing it to rotate. I was so impressed with the fit and quality that I've order the SS2083 Spare Parts Set as well. This set contains the component which have the greatest propensity for failure and I will be keeping a full set available to keep me shooting. Well this was my 1st experience replacing one of these. I had to get out the dremel tool after a few days with a file. My original Uberti hand had a broken spring only so I had some idea how long hand had to be. Be prepared to install and remove this thing a number of times although I discovered I did not have to install the grip frame each time I tested the fit. I took about a ﾼ inch off the length and than kind of shaped it on the edge (front and back). I knew I was getting close when I installed it with trigger bolt hammer and cylinder with barrel and it worked ok but would not let the hammer back to full cock. Thatﾒs when I shaped it a little like the original and Walla it worked. It must have been a bear to work in the Colt factory in 1851 and do this all day every day but I guess after a time you would have gotten good at it. WONDER WHERE THEY PLUGED IN THEIR DREMEL TOOL? Now I get to test this repair with some powder and ball!
