16 gauge. Side-by-side round barrels are 30 ¾” long. Externally, they are mostly bluish brown with faint Damascus twist pattern present. The only proof marks on the gun are a crown stamped over the letter “V” which is stamped on top of each barrel. No proof marks are present on the water table of under the barrels. Action opens by means of a side-swinging lever under the forend. The bores show some pitting but are mostly shiny. Barrel lock up to the frame is tight. The frame and the backaction lockplate and hammers are all nicely engraved with high quality although somewhat coarse scroll pattern. They are gray and light gray in color and smooth with no pitting. The locks click up nicely. The hammer on the left hand side is a replacement and is not engraved. A small walnut forend is checkered and is attached with a single barrel wedge. The checkering shows only light wear. The buttstock has about 80% of the original varnish and has a large cheekpiece on the right side. It is checkered on the straight grip wrist with little wear to the checkering. A steel triggerguard is present surrounding double triggers with a horn grip attached behind the triggerguard. The buttstock is mounted with a smooth black horn buttplate. A large button is attached to the bottom of the buttstock along with a sling swivel on the bottom of the barrels for attaching a sling. Overall condition is very good plus.
