This was my first gun and I am very satisfied with it. All I needed to purchase were the powder and percussion caps. *Note* Use #10 caps. #11's don't have a snug fit and tend to fall off. For easier reloading get some Wonder Wads to use instead of the included grease.

This outfit I got at a new Academy store and I have to say I am pleased with it . All the bare essentials are included . The revolver itself is a Confederate 44 caliber version of the original if not wimpy 36 Yank model . I have put loads up to 35 grains of FFFg in it with no problem . I occasionally fan the gun with all six rounds coming out in seconds . Make sure to pop caps before shooting to get rid of excess oil . Use No. 10 caps or you'll have to pinch No. 11s to get them to stay on the nipple . Don't forget to clean after each session . Remember blackpowder guns rust out never wear out . I have to say the Rebs pistol can still contend with today's modern autos and revolvers .

came in today took it out behind the house and fired 36 rounds it is just as accurate as the original 1851 colt i have. nice weight. my only complaint is the the black powder only and made and italy that are stamped on the barrel. a local gun smith is removing that for me. all in all a great buy for the price its great for beginners and veterans alike. a real pleasure to shoot.

I was very happy to see the good quality of fit and finish with this revolver. It fits the hand well and points like an extention of my index finger. An afternoon in my \"backyard\"" range pulled me back in time and showed the piece to be as fine shooting as it is looking. This is my first black powder revolver I have several long arms and at the price I thought I had not much to loose. Okay now we start to save up for some more. Great fun!"

This is the first black powder gun I have purchased. The kit came with everything needed except for the powder. I had difficulty removing the pin the first time to clean the pistol. I finally purchased a brass punch to get it removed. I took it to the range the first time and it fired flawlessly. I would recommend to anyway wanting to purchase a first gun.
