The “AN XIII” (meaning 13th year of the 1st French Republic) had a great career in Napoleon’s military. Produced from 1805 to 1819 in 150,000 pairs it was the first pistol produced under Napoleon’s order to feature industrial concepts for interchangeable parts. This was necessary because during Napoleon’s expansion in Europe, he tried to recreate the military arsenals in various countries, to have the same guns produced everywhere. Guns like the “AN XIII” differs from the “AN XI” with a shorter stock and a barrel band with an arm that extends down to the front sidelock screw which holds it in place instead of the barrel band retaining spring. American walnut, satin finished fullstock. .69 caliber, armory birght, 8 ¼” tapered round barrel. Smoothbore - .690 diameter. Single shot flintlock. Brass furniture includes buttcap, barrel band, triggerguard & sideplate. Single trigger. Lockplate is marked “Manifacture imperiale de S. Etienne” which means Saint Etienne Imperial Manufacture. Overall length is 14” and weighs 3 pounds. Manufactured by Pedersoli/Italy. THIS PRODUCT CANNOT BE SHIPPED TO NEW JERSEY OR CANADA.

Nice tight pistol overall good value. Excellent metal/wood fit. Flint cock had some play in it sparks okay but could be better. Checked lock. Tiny burr on tumbler sear had to 'override' it on full cock. Took tiny file and a few light strokes removed the burr. Also noticed that the tumbler was 'binding'. So I disassembled the lock and stoned both sides of the tumbler removing very tiny surface bumps. Also ran a round file through tumbler pivot hole a few times to remove burrs. Then I stoned the inside part of the bridle where it contacts the tumbler and worked on the inside of lock opposite the inside tumbler face. Results were GREAT. The tumbler needs to hang free or lets say unbound by friction resulting from the Pedersoli hardening process which creates small bumps on the part's surface. Now the tumbler works well it is unbounded by friction and hangs from the pivot screw like it should. Lock time and sparks increased ten fold! Not suggesting just anyone files away on factory parts without knowing what they are doing - to do so if folly and violates the warrantee. But for those of you who have worked on flintlocks and understand them you can tune military locks to fire like rifle locks Bill

Great pistol
Just recieved this a couple of weeks ago, have not been able to fire it yet. But, I've purchased a number of lower priced flintlocks from other suppliers, and without a doubt, this pistol has the best trigger I've ever felt in a flintlock. It's a clean break, with an excess of spark.. I'm really looking forward to putting it to the test. The fit and finish is brilliant to boot. Completely worth every penny.. Buy one!

A very impressive pistol.
I used 30 grains of 2fg in the barrel and a trace of 4fg in the pan. I used .675 round ball with a .10 thick patch and 3/4 size English flint with great ignition right away, no hang fire at all. The trigger pull was not stiff or binding and when fired,it all seemed very solid. I started at 25 feet for target then 15 feet with better results from the rest position. I highly recommend this pistol and really enjoy shooting it.

Delightful
This is a delightful little product. I have not used this yet but know it would make the makers very proud to know it is in such good faith and form.
