i recieved one of these for christmas and it was a great gift ...it took about 5 minutes to drill the touch hole and that included the removal of the lock. another two minutes to install a flint ..... then load and test fired great .... there is also a vent pick hidden inside the knob on the butt .....has a great feel in the hand and shoots well great for reenactor of the 18th century

This is a keeper. Pistol is nice to look at and fun to shoot. I drilled a 1/16\" touch hole in mine and have put maybe 50 rds through it. Functions great - not a single misfire. Trigger pull is outrageously heavy but seems to be improving w/ use. Follow the instructions in the other reviews for barrel removal."

Pistol must be disassembled cleaned and a small touch hold bored (I used a 1/64οΎ” bit). The side plate is held in place with two screws one on each side of the pistol. To dissemble the barrel remove the top screw and gently tap the barrel forward with a wooden or nylon hammer. There is a tab on the bottom of the barrel that engages a slot on the bottom of the metal stock. Be careful to properly locate the touch hold and use care as not break the drill bit. It differs from the original Scottish pistols in that it is not engraved. I have yet to find a photograph of one that is not heavily engraved. The pistol is a fun gun to shoot with blank loads of FFF black powder. It had never failed to spark when the proper size English or French flint is used. A great piece to augment the Jacobite highlanders outfit for the Battle of Culloden.

Great pistol but as metioned in another one of the reviews - to remove the barrel you MUST tap it strright forward to remove it - the front of the barrel uses a block that is dovetailed into the stock. I used a 1/16 in drill for the touch hole.

Gun is a beauty -- but WARNING! Barrel cannot be removed to drill touch hole: barrel is brazed in place and this will break if you try to remove it. Fixing it will not be easy. If you are going to drill the hole do so without trying to remove barrel. But the gun is stunning -- the picture does not do it justice.
