i have built kits before- some of which required up to 400 man hours to complete. i finished this kit in just 10 hours. the inletting of the wood was superb- best i have seen. the italian walnut was so ptetty i decided not to stain but used steel wool and tung oil instead. came out beautiful! had a little difficulty in that trigger guard was too long by 1/4 inch and had to elongate tang screw hole a little but overall kit came out very nice. good value for the money. note that frizzen material is such that setting the flint is tough.

I do 18th century historical interpretation for the George Rogers Clark Heritage Association. I purchased this weapon to use at the Fair at New Boston and other activities. the only problem I had was with the sights. I found then a real pain to put in but once the weapon was assembled I was very happy. Beautiful pistol and it has a real good bark when fired. You wont be sorry!

A great kit at a good price. It looks very nice when finished. Shoots good too. Take time to sand the stock well going gradually down at least to 220-grit sandpaper. Then burnish with 0000 steel wool. Clean 'er up with a rag and mineral spirits. When dry finish with some Early-American colored MinWax by slopping the finish all over the stock. Let stand for 15 minutes. Then wipe off with a clean rag. Repeat as desired for depth of color and shine. As for the brass parts and the iron/steel foreend tip file off burrs roughness etc. Then wet-sand with 400-grit wet-or-dry sandpaper. Burnish the foreend tip and brass parts with 0000 steel wool followed by polishing with some toothpaste on a damp rag. I left the foreend tip white although it could also be blued. The contrast of the white foreeend tip looks looks great with the blue barrel.

I am impressed with this kit. The fit of the parts is very good. This is my first build. It took about 20 hours. Simple tools files and various grits of sandpaper. Be PATIENT! I used DGW \"Dixie Antique Stain\"" on the stock and B-C \""Plum Brown\"" on the barrel after taking off the blueing. I like the looks & feel of this pistol. The trigger is crisp. Very Nice. I plan to compete with it at local matches. I will report on the Range Results when the winter weather clears. GOOD JOB Pedersoli and Dixie. "
