PK0945 LYMAN GREAT PLAINS PISTOL KIT, .50 CALIBER

Let me start by saying that I enjoyed this project a great deal. The kit is complete and construction is fairly intuitive. A full color picture of what the finished article should look like might have helped but on the other hand with no ideal to compare your pistol to I guess you have room for a little more creativity. The brass trigger guard was the most difficult part to work with straight out of the mold as it was. I spent hours sanding and polishing that piece alone. The wood stock was a pleasure to work with. The wood is hard and works slowly but it finishes nicely. I cold-blued my barrel and the other iron parts. The barrel took the blueing pretty easily but the ramrod ferrule and the tip piece did not blue as easily or as well. Still and all it is a handsome piece when you are finished suitable for firing or display.

Enjoyed finishing this pistol kit. Takes a good bit of filing carving and sanding but the results are very worth it. I browned the barrel and all unfinished iron. Looks nice and nice shooter too.
