I really enjoy this rifle. This rifle is beautiful and pretty fun to build but it is of course more fun to fire. For the price of this rifle it is pretty much a steal I reccomend it to anyone who is interested. The only issue I had was a minor one the stock pieces did not match so well; but it is easy to fix with a little bit of sanding. Truly an awsome rifle.

I purchased this kit about a month ago and I have had blast (no pun) with it. My kit was about 98% finished when i got it. I had to fit several items including the lock mechanism butt plate and the two stock pieces but thats all part of the fun of it. It shot great using 60 grains of triple seven powder and thompson/center round balls and patches. I highly recommend the tru oil gun stock finishing kit for finishing the stock. It was a great first kit rifle.

If you are willing to take the time use the sandpaper steel wool grinding wheels and so on you will end up with a beautiful rifle. I spent an entire winter building mine and it came out srtaight and square and looking great. 60 grains of black powder (the real stuff) with a .490 patched round ball will drop a wyoming elk at 100 yards any day. A++

Outstanding gun for the price and with a little imagination and alot of hard work you will have something to be proud of. Patience is required. I added brass diamond inlays to both stocks. This really set it off. There is alot of room in this kit to add personal touches such as carving or scroll work. I cannot stress the importance of taking your time with staining mine turned out great. All told I have 70 hours invested in the build. The only down side is that I wish the kit had come with wedges instead of pins for the barrell.
