What an \"Awsome\"" revolver ! During my collecting years which is currently right now too I never oned an 1860 Colt because I never much cared for the pistol grips looks or feel compaired to the 1851 or 61's grip frames . This 1860 is the first one I bought ever and needed it for the collection to complete some history gaps in the collection . Witht hat said on to the review ! This particular Pietta is very nice beautiful blueing color case ahrdening and even the brass is finished off nicely . No noticeable milling marks anywhere at all very nicely pollished throughout . It is on the same quality as my Uberti's and I owne allot of them too so I can compair guns side by side when I get them . This Pietta is very nicely finished I got lucky or Pietta has finaly stepped up thier game ? Trigger pull is Pietta my only complaint if any . Small creep prior to let off but a crisp let-off all the same around 3 pounds . Indexing is spot on barrel alignment agains pot on too. Cylinder lock-up is very tight too . What caught my eye the most is the Fluted cylinder half fluted should I say it really sets the gun off nicely . I plan on Black Walnut grips for it so it ought to be one fine looking gun when I finish Smithing it up and smoothing the action a bit too . I still like the 1851 and 61's pistol grips better but the 1860 is still very comfy in the hand all the same . I do reckon it will kick worse than the other gripped models because it sits different in the hand and will not roll as well back in your hand as the 1851 or 61 . It is a much straighter up and down grip hold so it will kick more no doubt about it . It is a very beautifull model though from Colt and good design too . I can understand now why it went over so well compaired to the massive Colt Dragoon Horse pistols in .44 available at the time when it was created after those . I give it a ten star rating this gun is winner and very nicely done by Pietta . Thanks for sending me such a nice specimen Dixie !!!! You obviously checked the quality on this one prior to sending it to me. Thanks ! Alan "

I don't have this particular piece but I had thought about buying this and swapping the cylinders out with my \".44 Navy Civilian\"" with silver backstrap........but after discovering they are out of stock I decided I don't like the \""semi fluted\"" cylinder on these cap and ballers......it may be authentic in that Colt made small numbers of percussion revolvers with semi-fluted cylinders but I think the round engraved cylinders look better.I did change out the cylinder on a Pietta '61 Navy with a \""police\"" semi fluted type and I never liked how it looked vs. the round cylinder but the gun is an older \""beater\"" that I use as a shooter so I left the cylinder on there."

I recently took my 1860 out with both loose powder and paper cartridges. This thing shoots great. One handed at 15 yards and it groups within 2 inches with the .454 roundball. While not quite as much fun as shooting the big Walker this gun is awesome!

This is a beautiful well-made clone of the 4 screw 1860 Army. Looks good and seems to be an accurate shooter. Although It groups a little high with the load I am using it is right on center line so a little file work and I am in business. I also got the WP0010 stock and it fits like a glove. I can see one of JEBs boys riding around McClellan with one of these at his side. It is altogether a good buy. I plan to get another one soon.
