The 61 Navy was produced until 1873 and with its short production life only about 38000 were made. This is a small number compared to the 51 Navythe Army and particularly the .31 Pocket models but is still a substantial number of revolvers for the mid-to-late 19th Century. This is another 2004-made example from the uberti line. Timing is perfect with the bolt droping in the beginning lead of the cylinder notch. The trigger pull is a few ounces under three pounds but feels lighter. I found practical field accuracy to be the same as with several Uberti .44s of the same year stamp. The front sight is too narrow for good visibility but after I opened up the hammer/notch/sight it hit exactly on for elevation and windage at 50 feet. Very pleasant to shoot. Using .375 Balls I noted that one chamber was a bit wider at the mouth than the others. I could thumb seat a ball. It appears the chamber constricts a bit below the mouth and put a good grip on the ball when fully seated. What seemed to be a problem did not show up as a flier on target or as an outlier over the chronograph: 22 Grain Goex fffg 966 fps 65 fps extreme spread 22gr/vol Pyrodex P 1046fps 36fps extreme spread. I got very nice off hand target groups and with the Stock attached some one-hole clusters from 60 feet. Out of the box the action was a bit rough but became smoother after about 50 rounds of shooting and some dry function.

Update: When I originally reviewed this item I indicated that one chamber seemed larger than the others. This was not accurate. I found that the .375 balls I was using were somewhat inconsistent as to size. The Uberti chambers are just about perfect and the groups I get with the revolver are sometimes astounding.

I just recieved my new 1861 navy and I must say that I've been shooting black powder guns for over 30 years and have owned many percussion revolvers but none have been as accurate or as well made as this one. The timing on the action is perfect and it shoots point of aim at 20 yards! I was amazed to discover that after 60 rounds the gun functioned flawlessly with no binding due to fouling. My load was 18 grs. fffg with ox yoke wad and a Dixie .376 cast ball. I put five shots into one hole at 15 yards and hit a coke can at 50 yards. I would also like to thank Dixie for their prompt service. I recieved my gun just six days after mailing in my order. Thanks DGW!

A very nice pistol and a lot of gun for the money. The action didn't work right at first but after I cleaned it I didn't put it together as tightly as the factory had. Works perfectly now. Beautiful fit and finish. I can't wait to shoot it.

I received my pistol today. It is an attractive firearm the timing is spot on and all of the parts are as tight as they should be. I own the 1851 London model also since I prefer the all steel construction verses a pistol with brass straps. Uberti makes some very good firearms and I have never been disappointed with either them or DGW.
