Although I haven't fired this yet ( waiting to join outdoor range) I can tell it's going to be a great shooter. This thing is a monster and it's the most massive and ungainly gun I've ever held...that's why I like it. I like it so much I think I may just have to have 3 or 4 more in different finishes and I may buy one in charcoal and leave it unfired. Iv'e fired other percussion revolvers before and I look forward to taking this bad boy out to the range.

Manufactured as you would expect from Uberti this minute pistol with a charge of only 40 gr. has a gentle recoil and cracking accuracy. But do tell your friends to stand aside a bit more than is customary for its concussion is akin to that of a cannon which is precisely what it is!

Excellent fit and finish on this massive horse pistol - usual outstanding Uberti quality as one would expect. Smooth revolving action although take care in dry firing (even once) since the hammer will \"dimple\"" from contacting the nipple."

I got it to check out the traditionally discusseed maximum loads and performance with the oddly shaped picket bullet that accompanied the revolvers as they were distributed in 1847. (mould is the blue steel pedersoli replica- a very good product itself.) The revolver exhibites perfect fit and finish and is faithful to the original design right down to the grip frame screws that stick out farther than on subsequent designs. Bore and chambers are in perfect sinc both as to alignment and optimum size for accuracy. Practical accuracy is very good right out to 50 yards and I had no trouble shooting 4-6\" one-handed groups at 30yards with the pickets and round ball. Of course the loading lever drops down just like the original Walkers. For range work I tape it up for convenience. The action is smooth and perfectly timed. I recorded velocities in the 1100s with full charges and the 170 grain picket bullets high 1000s with the lee 200 grain conical and high 1200s with full chambers of swiss fffg and pyrodex p and a round ball. Recoil is inconsequential while smoke and noise is profound. There is also a tendencty to gum up quicky with black powder loads and the gun need a pretty thourough field cleaning after ever chamber full. Excellent revolver. Not as convenient for routine shooting as the smaller belt models but a great addition to a shooting stable of historic arms."

O K. I read some of the other reviewssome thought it was good some not so good.I'm thinking I really loved this one.I've fired it meany times out on my little range.I shoot the max. load in it every time and it never really has much recoil. I guess because of it's weight. The sights were right on the money right out of the box. Hey!!! I going to use this hog leg for home security.....I guess my wife can use my little 36cal. pocket gun.....Once again: \"I love this thing\"" Thanks....Dr. John "
