This was positively the most beautiful percussion firearm I have ever purchased. My upgrade to the Uberti started when I purchased a Pietta version of the same 1851 Navy model. The overall finish of the Pietta was not impressive there was way too much of a gap between the cylinder and the barrel I was too afraid to even try to fire it. So I sent it back and upgraded to the Uberti. The Uberti is positively the best reproduction firearm you can buy. The casehardening is far superior to that of Pietta. And although Pietta makes fine remington models their Colts just can't compare. I just can't stop admiring the overall beauty of the Uberti and to me it is entirely worth every penny. If you want to save your money buy one Uberti instead of two Piettas and you'll have yourself one of the most beautiful firearms you'll ever see! I can't wait to take it out to the range once the weather warms up.

Bought one of these and an 1861 in the store a couple of months ago. They are both fantastic the fit and finish are amazing nearly as nice as an original Colt. Both of the revolvers will put all six rounds in the X at 25 yards. I've been very impressed with Uberti recently.

Well now i am impressed. First order from Dixie and no complaints. came fast and the product itself was awesome. The Uberti replica is probably the most beautiful cap and ball i have ever seen action is nice and slick. Dis assembly was hard the first few times but it eases up. can not wait to take it to the range.

Very nice 1851. The fit and finish are excellent. Disassebly was not a problem - I removed the wedge by hand but had to use a small plastic mallet to reinstall it (not a problem). I didn't need to use the loading lever to separate the barrel and frame (although the manual says it's OK to do so). You need to use the correct screwdriver to remove the cylinder stop screw to avoid boogering it up. The gun came pretty lubed up so it needs to be cleaned before firing. I just wiped it down and ran some dry patches through it. The hammer works fine but I haven't dry-fired it without a cap. It seems like a shame to shoot it but I will for sure next week. This version has the oval trigger guard. The other Uberti 1851 version (RH0430) has the square-back guard. For some reason the price of the square-back version is slightly more expensive but I prefer the looks of the oval guard anyway. I thought about buying an extra cylinder to streamline reloading on the range particularly when shooting with a friend. But since the barrel and frame have to be disassembled to swap cylinders it probably wouldn't save any time. The naval scene's engraving on the cylinder is all there and fully discernable but a bit feint at least to my tired eyes. Maybe just rolled on with a not-to-sharp die or without very heavy pressure? I recommend this reproduction. When the time is right I may purchase a Remington Navy by Uberti. (I prefer the .36 navy caliber.)

Beautiful European walnut grips nicely finished. Excellent attention to detail wood to metal and metal to metal fit. Superbly finished bluing and case hardening. Looks terrific on my shelf and is a joy to shoot. My first black power gun but not likely my last. Also my complements for the technical support from the DGW gunsmiths.
