17495 COLT MODEL 1849 POCKET MODEL REVOLVER

This is a London model and early. It is serial number 15 with that number matching on the barrel, frame, triggerguard, backstrap, loading lever and cylinder. There is a different number stamped on the barrel wedge. .31 caliber with five-shot straight cylinder and 5" octagonal barrel. Gun coloration overall is dark gray but with desirable early features. Edges and corners are lightly rounded and there is some very light pitting in scattered areas. The barrel is well marked with a two line London address. The cylinder has faint traces of cylinder scene remaining but no cylinder number is evident. The frame is stamped in large letters "COLT." Brass backstrap and triggerguard have no silver plating remaining and are somewhat dirty. One piece walnut grips are in very good condition. Included with the gun are photocopies from various publications which illustrate this gun. This very gun is featured in Colt's Pocket ‘49 - It's Evolution by Robert M. Jordan and Colonel Colt London - The History of Colt's London Firearms 1851-1857 by Joseph P. Rosa. This very gun is pictured in both publications. Overall condition is about very good.
