I just got my Whitworth rifle this week took it out and shot it to dayused 70 grains of 2 ff shot 2 lee 500 slugs and shot the English hex bullets that is sloppy in the bore.I was very surprised that they shot a good group about the size of my Fisk with open sights.the rifle has a good trigger pull looks good.Im going to put a scope on the rifle and fine tune itI believe it will shoot a lot betterI have a interarms whitworth that does not shoot well. This Parker hail Whitworth is hands above the otherI'm very happy with the rifle

I recently picked up this rifle from Dixie. Customer service and shipping was excellent as usual. The rifle itself is made by Pedersoli for the recent reboot of Navy Arms and is marked as such. Mine was proofed in 2015. All the stats in the description are correct with the exception that the nipple is a steel musket one of 8x1.25mm thread. The rifle is blued and the blueing is a bit dull. The stock is fine grained American walnut and satin oiled. I'm ok with this as it is supposed to be a military weapon. The trigger has a lot of sideways play however... it breaks smoothly and cleanly with no over travel... about 2lbs. The sights are military ladder leaf with a globe front sight. Not the best and I had to put some white paint on the front sight to get a better sight picture. Accuracy is very good with 80gr of FFg and the Lyman 457121 pure lead bullet sized to .450. I recommend replacing the nipple with a Treso ampco musket nipple because of the higher pressure.

Up date
Got my scope mount mounted on my rifle ,used a old tasco 4x40 scope I bought in the 80s used a bunch of bullets the best was lee .458 sharps used. 3f powder shot 2 to4 inch groups .Then I used 1 f powder it shot 1 inch groups some times one hole shot got to clean after each shot for best accuracy.use a small rubber hammer to start bullets and good lube.great shooting gun hope this helps

Excellent Rifle
I purchased this rifle about 1 1/2 mts. ago along with the correct bullet mould. The fit and finish would make Dr. Whitworth proud, this is the best fit and finish on any of my muzzleloaders. The rifle shoots 1 inch groups at 100 yards and 3 inch groups at 200 yards. There is no slop in the trigger and it breaks cleanly at 2lb 9oz . I have also shot .454 minie bullets in it with good results, again 1 inch at 100 yards. I will be hunting Elk and Deer this fall using the 550 grain hex bullet. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to spend a little extra for a fine rifle
