Beautiful and well made
This is an exquisite shotgun for the price. It patterns very well and is well balanced. Pulls up nicely to your shoulder. Swapped out the lead flint holders and flints for leather and English flints. This works much better with these locks and the pan placement. Using 72 grains of 2F with 1oz of shot. Using the circle fly cards and wads since you can get both 19 gauge and 20 gauge. Soaking the over the powder wads in bear grease. Dixie gave me outstanding service as always

Flint lock shootgun
I just received it. It's a piece of art! Been wanting and looking for this kind of gun for more than 25 years. Finally I got one. In future, if I can, I'd like to order one more.

Good gun with some design flaws
I've been wanting a flintlock SxS forever and finally bought this one about 6 months ago. My plan was to hunt turkeys and squirrels with it. It is a beautiful gun but has a couple design issues that you should be aware of. The first one is that "20 gauge" must not mean the same thing in Italy as it does in the USA. All my 20 gauge wads and cards were too small in diameter for either barrel. I ended up having to buy 18 gauge wads and cards to get a snug fit. The second thing has to do with the breech design. This gun has a patent breech which, in my opinion, is a stupid idea. There is an air gap between the vent hole and the charge in the barrel. That means that the fire from the pan does not go directly to the powder in the barrel. It has to go through that air gap first. The problem with that is that any cleaning solution you use will get in that gap and there is no way to clean it out. This will cause you all kinds of trouble in a hunting situation because you will light off the pan but the gun won't go off. My solution was to pour a little powder in the barrel and pan and fire the gun before loading it. This will burn out any moisture in that gap. When I reload, I make sure to pour just a little powder in and tap the gun on the ground a couple of times to get some powder down into that air gap. Then I finish loading. The last thing I'm not crazy about is the poor patterns the barrels throw. I thought the modified (left) barrel would be decent but it's not. The patterns might be okay with #8s or #9s to shoot quail but for squirrels and turkeys, using #6, they need work. I ended up making paper shot cups to tighten them up. They're still not great but will work out to 25 yards. I have killed one turkey and a handful of squirrels so far.
