AC1204 Thumbstall

The maker of this thumbstall used an 1863 arsenal original as a pattern. It is cut to the same shape and pad is stuffed with horsehair, as were the originals. It is made of top quality leather, and includes a generous piece of rawhide to tie around the wrist. The thumbstall was used to securely close off the vent hole while the artillery piece was being loaded.
