MC0700 Confederate Collar Rank Bars - 2nd Lieutenant (1 Bar)

Late in May 1861, the Confederate War Department released plans for a uniform which introduced officer’s insignia (“badges of distinguished rank”) on the collar only. These comprised large and small stars and “horizontal bars” in various combinations, the bars were ½” wide and from 3” to 3 ½” long. Our bars are authentic and extremely well constructed; copied from those found in the State History and Archives Museum (Montgomery, Alabama) and the Museum of the Confederacy (Richmond, Virginia). Each is regulation shape and size, constructed of 14k gold bullion bars sewn to a stiff black wool type background. As an added feature these bars are manufactured by the same firm in France that produced them during the Civil war. Sold in pairs only.
