PA2003 MEECHAM PATTERN HAVERSACK

An exact copy of the 1862 original with the exception of the buttons, which are made of cast pewter. The outer bag is made with the proper inner reinforcements, straps are rolled and double stitched with a two button muslin liner. Flap is closed with a small leather strap and steel buckle. The strap is made for a 6'4" person and can be shortened by lapping the strap over and either stitching or tacking. The Meecham pattern haversacks were made of muslin and completely coated with a black tar-like substance. The maker of this bag has had the original coating analyzed and is using that formula to coat these new made haversacks. To maintain the finish of this sack, use a high quality black paste shoe polish. Excellent quality, well made in the USA.
