Pennsylvania schoolteacher and law student who formed his own company of Ohio soldiers, which thereafter served with the 63rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry. At Corinth, Mississippi, following his company's aid in the defense of Battery Robinett, Jackson was shot in the face by a retreating Confederate.
