Caliber is desirable .38-55. Serial number is 406325, made in 1907. The octagonal barrel is 18 ½" long. There are no factory records on this serial number range but one would assume that the barrel has been cut to this length. The facing on the front of the muzzle is perfectly square but is blued. The attachment of the magazine ring beneath the barrel is well done. The magazine extends to within 1/4" of the end of the barrel. The walnut forend 9 3/8" long. The barrel has about 70% original blue finish with the balance turning plum color. The edges and corners are sharp and the barrel markings are excellent. Barrel is mounted with a silver blade front sight and a sporting style rear sight. The receiver has about 50% thin original blue finish with light edge wear. Action works perfectly. Mounted on the tang is a Lyman post style peep sight. Walnut stocks are in excellent condition with most of the original varnish remaining. The buttplate is a steel crescent rifle style with nickel plating. Plating appears that it could be factory original. No plating is present on other parts. Overall condition is about excellent. Modern long gun rules apply.
