The frame, sideplates, nosecap and dust cover are all engraved with a factory applied scroll design. The frame is mostly dull gray in color with light roundness to edges and corners. Engraving is very lightly worn and no original finish remains on frame. 3rd Model. Serial number is 121196, made in 1883. Caliber is .32 WCF. The octagonal barrel is 24 ¼” long. It is mounted with a blade front sight with ivory insert. Standard sporting style rear sight is present. Full length magazine is present beneath the barrel. The barrel retains about 40% of the original thin blue finish overall with the balance worn to gray and brown. All markings on the barrel are excellent. Light engraving is also present on the brass carrier and the caliber is engraved there also. Single set trigger is present. An original Winchester mid-range vernier tang sight is mounted on the tang behind the hammer. The walnut buttstock and forend show moderate wear overall. Checkering is present on the forend and also on the straight grip wrist. The buttstock exhibits excellent burl figure. The buttstock is mounted with a plain checkered hard rubber buttplate. The action works well. There is a small piece of wood missing from the buttstock on the right side where it meets the frame. Included with the gun is a factory letter indicating set trigger, checkered stock, shotgun butt, casehardened frame and factory engraving. It was shipped from the warehouse on April 12, 1883. Another entry is present on the letter for a repair and return on January 7, 1902. Overall condition of the gun is about very good.
