The 1866 Winchester was developed from the Henry and production begin in 1866. Approximately 170,101 were made. It differs from the Henry by having a loading gate on the side of the action and a wooden forearm. Called the "Yellow Boy" by the Indians, the 1866 is the most deserving of the name, "The Gun That Won The West." The buttstock and forearm are European walnut with satin finish 3 1/2" drop and 13 1/4" trigger pull. The barrel is 45 LC caliber, blued, 19" tapered round with .900"at breech to .630" at muzzle. Cut rifling .004"deep with 1-36" twist, 6 lands with .424 & 6 grooves. Front sight 1 piece steel base and blade made as part of upper barrel band. Rear Sight steel, .350 dovetail base, open style, two position leaf. Uses 45 LC black powder cartridge or factory loaded ammo with 10 capacity magazine. It features brass frame and buttplate, blued steel furniture, single trigger, 2 barrel band. Made in Italy by Uberti. MODERN GUN RULES APPLY.(See F.A.Q. #7).
