Produced in the famous French town of St. Etienne from 1801 to 1807, the “AN IX” (meaning 9th year of the 1st French Republic) was used by the cavalry before and during the reign of the Emperor Napoleon. Elected Emperor in December 1804, Napoleon made sure his military had the best firearms of the day. True to the original with brass furniture and walnut stock. Has a American walnut satin finished fullstock. .69 caliber – armory bright with a 8 ¼” tapered round barrel. Smoothbore and .690 diameter. Single shot flintlock. Brass furniture includes buttcap, barrel band, triggerguard & sideplate. Has a single trigger. Lockplate is marked “Manifacture Imperiale de S.
