Officially known as the Model 1841 U.S. percussion rifle, this firearm became known as the "Mississippi Rifle" when it was used by a regiment of Mississippians commanded by Jefferson Davis during the Mexican War. This reproduction features a one-piece European walnut full stock with satin finish. Browned barrel is .54 caliber, 33" long tapered round, button rifled .006" deep, 1-48" twist, 7 lands and 7 grooves. Front sight is brass blade and rear sight is fixed steel. Brass furniture, single trigger, casehardened lockplate marked "U.S." surmounted by American eagle. Two barrel bands, sling swivels. Steel ramrod with brass end, threaded 10x32. Percussion features 5/16x24 nipple and uses musket caps. Load with 60 grains of FFg black powder and .530 patched round ball or .535 minie ball. Overall length is 48 5/8" and total weight is 9 1/2 lbs. Made by Pedersoli, Italy.
