Caliber is .455 Eley. The tapered round barrel is 7 ½" long. It has a high bead style target front sight. It is well marked with Colt's address and patent information in two lines on the top. The left side of the barrel is marked "NEW SERVICE 455 ELEY." British proof marks are present on the barrel, frame and cylinder. In addition, the right side of the frame is marked with a broad arrow surrounded by "D D." The barrel has about 15% of the original blue finish remaining with the balance faded to gray and some very light roughness present. The frame has about 60% original blue finish with quite a bit of scratching to the finish. Flat top style frame with adjustable target sight. Action works perfectly. Brilliant fire blue remains on the rear surfaces of the hammer and also on the checkered trigger. Action works perfectly. The left side of the frame is marked above the grips in a circle "COLT'S NEW SERVICE" surrounding a rampant colt. Two piece checkered walnut grips are present and show moderate wear. Silver colored Colt medallions are present on each grip. Both the backstrap and frontstrap of the grips are checkered. Serial number is 17317. Overall condition is very fine.
