17995 US MODEL 1842 DERRINGER MILITARY PISTOL

Overall length is 12 3/8". The lockplate is well marked "US/DERRINGER/PHILADELa." Lock is smooth and a dull gray color with sharp markings and edges and corners. The lock works perfectly. The barrel, which has a .54 caliber bore, is 6" long. It has a very smooth finish and is excellently marked with inspector's marks and "DERRINGER/PHILADELa" next to the bolster. The barrel has a very smooth brownish coloration which is slightly lightened around the bolster area. Original swivel ramrod is housed beneath the barrel. Gun is mounted with brass furniture including the barrel band, triggerguard and buttcap. The walnut stock is in very fine condition except it has been cracked through the grip area and repaired. This repair is evident and could use some work to conceal it. Overall condition is very good.
