This is a very rare model and with an even rarer 5” barrel. Caliber is .38 Smith & Wesson centerfire. Five-shot fluted cylinder has about 20% blue, mostly in the flutes. The balance is faded to brown. The 5” round barrel with integral top rib has about 40% original blue finish which is fading to dull gray. The barrel is mounted with a nickel plated blade front sight which is pinned on the front of the rib. The barrel markings are excellent and include “MODEL OF 91.” The frame has about 70% of the original blue finish remaining. The distinctive feature on this gun is the separate housing for the spur trigger which is pinned into the bottom of the frame. Also, the flat sided hammer is present and has good color casehardening remaining. Serial number is 15522. Two piece ivory grips are present and fit well. They appear to be period to the gun. Action works perfectly. Overall condition is very fine.
