The lockplate and barrel are in the original flintlock configuration. No evidence of the touch hole ever having been altered and all parts on the lockplate are original. Lockplate is marked in front of the hammer “S NORTH/U.S./MIDLtn CONN.” Surrounding an American eagle. The date of 1822 is stamped on the tail below the sliding safety. Coloration of the lock is medium gray with no pitting. The tapered round barrel is 10” long with a bore of .54 caliber. The barrel is mounted with a brass blade front sight with a sighting groove incorporated onto the long breechplug tang. The barrel is light gray in color with excellent proof marks. It is smooth with no pitting but may have been expertly but lightly cleaned. Swivel ramrod is located beneath the barrel and is original. The walnut stock has faint cartouches on the left side. It is sound but shows moderate wear and has been revarnished. There is no missing or broken wood. The stock is mounted with iron furniture including the buttcap, triggerguard, barrel band and sideplate. All part are medium gray in color with no pitting. Overall condition is very good plus.
