Hammer forged browned barrel 36". Tapered round - 1 1/16" at breech to 13/16" at muzzle. "Hexagon" Whitworth rifling. 1 in 20" twist. Front sight is blued steel globe w/bead post. Rear sight is blued steel w/elevator marked to 800 yards. Ignition is percussion - musket caps. Features brass nosecap, triggerguard, buttplate. Color casehardened barrel bands and lock. Engraved lockplate marked "Whitworth Rifle Co. Manchester" along the bottom and a crown with "W" under it on the tail. "Whitworth Patent" on barrel behind rear sight. Overall length of rifle is 51 1/2" and weighs 9 1/2 lbs. Accessories include a steel ramrod w/brass tip and muzzle protector- 10 X 32 thread. Nipple 5/16 X 20 (NP1480 - 8 X 1.25).
