Cold rolled steel with plow share steel forged and wedged into the eye stock. The oval eye is tapered with a 1 degree drift considered a must for throwing hawks since the handle can be replaced or tightened with little effort. The traditional tomahawk was especially recreated for match throwing with a strong 19” handle of extra select straight grain white hickory. The “plow share” is tough 10-80 steel that will withstand hard throws, yet has enough temper to hold an edge. The heads are maintained around 48 Rockwell hardness which can be filed instead of stoning to sharpen.. Guaranteed against breakage during normal throwing. If breakage does occur return the head; we will ship a new one at no charge. Standard model, hand forged showing hammer marks. 16 oz. head, 19" handle.

I bought my Shawnee Tomahawk some time in 1979. I have used it let it rust cleaned it sharpened it and cut down many small trees with it over the years. The handle and head are still in good shape. In the last week I used it to chop at a small tree root in order to get it out of the way of my mower. One of my best buys I made in my life. It will last as long and of the same quality as a モBuck Knifeヤ. It has excellent balance weight and feel. Looks like it came out of the 18th century. I recommend it to any one who want a モmountain man axヤ or just to go camping with. It will serve you for many decades.

Excellent 'hawk. Balance is very even great for throwing. The handle on mine was a little dry but a little linseed oil took care of that. I love this 'hawk.

I purchased my Shawnee around 1980. I've used it a lot. Chopped everything imaginable. Sharpened stakes. Cut down trees. Cut roots while removing shrubs. I would cut right into the dirt and rocks. The edge has never chipped. I used to throw it a lot. I found that throwing is not even what it does best. It bites deeper than a hand axe due to the thinner head. It balances better than any hand axe too. I've never been able to sharpen mine with a file though. It won't cut it. So it must be a little on the hard side. That's okay. The angle grinder works great. It still has the original handle which is still in great condition. There's nothing like a good piece of hickory. There is no way I could ever part with this tomahawk. It's an old friend. We've got history. We've trod through forests together. Sometimes it was my only weapon. I was surprised to see it has quadrupled in price. I think I'll go in there right now and love on it a little.
